Love headboard

For Christmas we decided we should give my brother and sister-in-law a new headboard. We'd been stalking her new Pinterest board that she'd created to help her redecorate their master bedroom.

She was going with gray and yellow, and had pinned this great headboard. (Not quite sure of the source... Pinterest sucks at that sometimes!)

So my sister and I decided to recreate it!

I didn't take pictures while I was building (oooops! fail!) but it really is fairly simple.

I bought 4-1x8s (6 feet long) and 2-2x4s (stud length) from Lowe's. I cut the 1x8s at 60 inches, and the 2x4s at 56". Then I just screwed the 1x8s to the 2x4s. It doesn't have to be perfect, in fact it will probably look silly if it is perfect! (At least that's what I keep telling myself!)

I stained it walnut, and the I sent yellow paint with my sister-in-law and made her paint the "love" herself. I really meant to do it, but I ran out of time! Here's a picture of how it looks in their room! Yay!

Merry Christmas to me!

So funny story... I wrote this blogpost about how depressed I was about Christmas this year (well last year, but you know what I mean).

And then my super awesome, totally sweet, handsome, (I'll stop now!) husband showed up in Wyoming and surprised me. And anyone who knows me knows that's not an easy task. I'm a bit of a ... let's just say question asker. I am so very impressed that he was able to pull it off, and at the amount of people who knew, which was EVERYONE but me. I can't believe no one let it slip. Well some people let it slip, but the possibility was so far from my mind that I didn't think anything of it. I thought they were all just crazy.

So I got him for Christmas and New Year's, and yes, I know how lucky that makes me. Hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday too!
