Our new guest bedroom (Part II)

I also made two nightstands to match my new bed. I built them from this plan ( http://ana-white.com/2011/06/mini-farmhouse-bedside-table-0 ) and I love them. (Have you noticed that I love everything about this room?) I built two, and I made a few adjustments to make them perfect for us!

My parents got here the day after I finished them and the drawers were sticking to the slides. My dad suggested I rub bar soap on the slides and the bottom of the drawer to make them slide. It worked miracles! Now they slide smoothly. The basket is from Target (I think it was $12.99).

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Our new guest bedroom (Part I)

I had my heart set on building the bedroom set for the guest room. When we found out PJ would be gone for a month, I thought it would be a good time to work on it. I didn't really think about how hard it would be to manhandle an entire bedroom set by myself. But once I started, I had to finish! I used plans from Ana-white.com (A-MAZING site by the way) which I modified a little bit to make it work for us.

Here's our new Farmhouse bed! Love, love, love it. (And so proud of myself!)

Tomorrow I'll share pictures of the nightstands and a few more little projects that went with the bedroom!
P.S. Don't you love that wall color? I sure do!

Key hooks and menu board

Next on my to-do list were some little projects for the downstairs. Right before PJ left, he lost his keys and for about a week, one of us was locked out of the house every day. It was miserable.

About two weeks after he left, one of our friends was leaving for an extended period of time and was leaving his car and motorcycle at our house. I figured it was time to make the key hooks I'd been planning so we didn't lose his keys too!

I just bought the cheapest hooks from Lowes and screwed them into small wooden plaques that I'd decorated with some scrapbook paper. I added ribbon, and hung them up. Tada! So simple!

The other thing I added was a menu board. It was such a simple project and I'm hoping it will stop PJ from asking what's for dinner every twenty minutes! I just took a cheap frame I had laying around, spray painted the outside, put some stickers on cute scrapbook paper and put it in the frame. It turned out pretty cute and I love it.

Pallet patio table

I can't wait to share what I've been up to! With my husband gone for a month and my parents coming to visit, it was time to work on our guest room. I spent the entire month of March busy, busy, busy! I added a few projects to the rest of the house too.

First, I finally finished our patio table that we made out of pallets. We just grabbed two pallets that looked sturdy, added 6" 4x4s between them, and put wheels on the bottom so it would be easy to move by myself. We sanded it quite a bit (especially the top!) and painted it white.

It turned out beautifully! We love it and our new chairs too. We got the chairs off Craigslist for $20 (I painted them yellow), and the pillows came from Bed, Bath and Beyond. I had some scrap wood laying around and made a square to set my lanterns (from Target) on. We love spending evenings grilling and playing cribbage in the beautiful Hawaii weather.
